1. Sports in Asia

You can find information about the history of polo at: http://www.indianvisit.com/ivnew/thecountry/culture/polo.htm.

You can find information about the history of the Cricket World Cup at: http://worldcup.indiaexpress.com/world_cup_history.html

  • Pick one of the following sports: cricket, polo or martial arts
  • Find out about the rules for the sport and describe them to your classmates. If it is a martial art, then pick a specific one, for instance judo or another one. You may want to go to your local library to get inspiration
  • Find out if one of the three sports is practised in your local area. If yes, which one?
  • Try to play a game of cricket
2. The Nadaam Festival

Have a look at the photo-essay from the yearly Nadaam festival in Mongolia (wrestling and horserace).
Look at the bottom of the page and browse through all the pictures in the photo-essay.

  • Find Mongolia on a map. Find facts and write at least five important keywords about the country. 
  • Choose a picture and write an essay of at least 20 lines (New caption for the picture/ short article with help from the original caption).
3. Shandur Pass Polo

  • Find Pakistan on a map. Find Shandur Pass and describe the area.
  • Look at the pictures from the polo tournament from 1997 and write a story about what you see. What is going on in the pictures; who are the spectators, and how do they live?
