Christianity

Even though Christianity is not a religion that is normally associated with Asia, it is widespread in many areas

There are three main movements in Christianity: Catholicism, the Orthodox Church and Protestantism.

The vast majority of Christians in Denmark are Protestants. In Asia, most Christians are Catholics.

Ceremonies and traditions

Many Christians in Asia are much more religious than people generally are in Denmark which is a very secular society. In large parts of Indonesia, where many Catholics live, there is a tradition that Christians volunteer to let themselves be crucified at Easter during large processions as a part of the religious ceremonies.

On Sundays, in Christian areas in Asia, you may see many young boys and girls dressed up nicely on their way to Sunday schools. Christian holidays are more or less the same all over the world, thus Christians in Asia celebrate Christmas and other holidays like people do in Denmark. However, having a Christmas tree inside the house during Christmas is a European invention which is rarely used among Christians in Asia.
