Teacher's guide
Asia in school - Black Box contains educational material about Asia, which is the biggest and most populated continent on the globe. The purpose of the Black Box project is to provide a nuanced picture of Asia, seen through the eyes of young people.
The primary target group of Black Box is students in Denmark and Asia, aged between 13 and 16. However the project has been tailored to Danish Students, we hope though that Asian teachers and students will find inspiration in these pages.
The general idea of (with?) Black Box is that texts and images shall inspire the students to reflect about and to sum up their own impressions about Asia and express themselves in black boxes. Black Box directs many questions towards the students: What is Asia? Who are the people who live in Asia, and how do they live?
Asia is a very many-facetted continent with wide diversities in life style, population and geography, and Black Box would like to challenge stereotypical images about Asia and provide a more complete picture. We try to give the readers so many varied impressions as possible, and therefore we have included many links to different websites.
We hope that you and your students have great pleasure from working with the themes presented here, and that they gain useful insight and knowledge about Asia.
